Seshat is an unstoppable creative force. She greets every project with open arms and inspires others to bring their best ideas to a project. I first met her when she reached out to me about my documentary project Red Line D.C. She invited me to join an art and activation event that she was curating called DeanwoodxDesign, which drew me to a beautiful community space in my hometown that I was ashamed to admit I had never been to before. A resourceful collaborator, Seshat acts as connective tissue for fellow DC artists, while simultaneously nurturing her own work.  I thoroughly enjoyed working with her and love following her creative journey because she embodies the spirit of the mantra she promotes: Make. Do.

Seshat is an inspiring individual whose love for art and community are evident in all that she does.  She's an incredible talent, both creatively and administratively.  Seshat is able to create engaging installations, produce placemaking projects and special events, big or small.  Seshat is extremely well organized, multi-talented and efficient. Seshat Walker has a keen sense of style, is excellent with managing different personalities, and is willing to go the extra mile to make artists and clients alike feel provided for and understood. Her community-based branding is just what DC needs to bring the needs of neighborhoods and neighbors front and center. Seshat rhymes with Gives a Lot!

Partnering with Seshat at one of my coffeeshop popups was a great experience! Not only is she very easy to work with but she also brings a level of creativity that encourages others to think outside of the box. The earth day project that she curated allowed my customers to not only celebrate our worlds green space but also paralleling that to our immediate community of Deanwood Washington DC. It would be an honor to work with Seshat on a future project!    Rachel Pace, Owner of Penny Brew Coffee

We commissioned Seshat for a complex project — a large-scale interactive art installation spread across 12 city blocks. What’s more, she would be working with three other artists, none of whom had met each other before. The result, however, was inspired. It showcased the talents of each artist while at the same time broadcasting a message of hope and history to the community in which it was installed. Throughout the process, Seshat was focused and thoughtful, bringing her own voice and perspective to a complicated project with several parents. It is an outstanding creative who can working so well and so collaboratively with other equally driven and talented, multidisciplinary creatives.

I had the privilege of working with Seshat through her Make.Do sessions at the Petworth Neighborhood Library.  It was a collaborative project that we entitled Resident Artifact.  We collected stories and encouraged residents and business owners to create collages using found objects that represent their community and evoked their memories. I found working with Seshat to be incredibly inspiring.  I value her open perspective and her ability to see the real needs.  She is also able to truly collaborate - an example that was very helpful for me to learn from. Her innovative projects are impossible to ignore and irresistible to participate in.   Rachel Dickerson, New Community ArtSpace Founder and Artistic Director

I came to know of Seshat Walker’s work through her neighborhood engagement campaigns. Her understanding of how to build participatory social cohesion between diverse communities is nuanced, empathetic, and effective. And most importantly, grounded in fun!
